The Challenges

Three video security blind spots that cost you response time, investigation hours, and audit confidence

Most sites already have the cameras to see everything that matters. What is usually missing is the ability to act on what those cameras capture while it still matters, not after the fact.

Cameras that only help you afterwards

A vehicle idles too long at the gate. Someone lingers at a perimeter after dark. A crowd forms near an entrance that should stay clear. Cameras record all of it, but the value of that footage is almost entirely retrospective. Something has to go wrong before anyone watches it back.

Video and access are separate systems

A camera can show that someone was somewhere. It cannot say whether they were meant to be there. Security teams end up cross-referencing video against access logs and vehicle registers manually, after the fact, to work out whether an event was authorised, unusual, or a genuine incident.

Investigations that take hours

When something happens across a multi-camera site, working out what occurred, where, and who was involved usually means one person scrubbing through hours of footage from multiple feeds, hoping they are looking in the right place at the right time.

Built for Compliance

Governed by design, not checked after the fact

Video, identity, and perimeter data carry real regulatory weight across Europe. Prime Video Security is built with that in mind from the start, not adjusted for compliance afterwards.

GDPR

Prime Video Security supports GDPR-configurable operation through automatic face blurring for non-watchlist individuals, configurable data retention and processing limits, role-based access controls, and EU data-resident deployment options. Compliance depends on how the solution is configured, deployed, and governed within each organisation.

EU AI Act

The platform’s AI systems are classified and managed in line with EU AI Act risk categories. Biometric identification is a high-risk application under the Act, requiring governance, transparency, and human oversight, which the platform’s configuration options are designed to support. Deployment decisions made by each customer affect their own regulatory standing.

NIS2

For critical infrastructure operators, video and perimeter security investment is increasingly tied to NIS2 obligations around incident detection, evidence, and response. Prime Video Security supports the evidence and detection capability that NIS2-scoped organisations are expected to demonstrate, alongside the policies, processes, and accountability that regulation requires beyond any single tool.

Frequently Asked Questions about Prime System Intelligence

What is AI video analytics?

AI video analytics is software that analyses live and recorded camera footage to detect, recognise, and flag events automatically, rather than relying on someone watching a monitor or reviewing footage after an incident. Within Prime Video Security, this capability is called Video Intelligence. It covers detection types including intrusion, behaviour and anomaly detection, object detection, facial recognition, and licence plate recognition, applied across the camera estate a site already has in place.

Does Prime Video Security replace my existing cameras or VMS?

No. Prime Video Security is camera-agnostic across ONVIF-compliant devices and works alongside the video management system a site already runs, including Milestone XProtect, and camera hardware from manufacturers including Axis, Hanwha Vision, and i-PRO. It extends what an existing camera estate and VMS already do, rather than requiring replacement of either.

What does “Video Intelligence” mean within Prime Video Security?

Video Intelligence is the AI video analytics capability. It covers the detection, recognition, and search capabilities described across this page, including behaviour and anomaly detection, object detection, natural language video search, and cross-camera tracking. It is not a separate product; it is one part of the complete video security solution.

Does Prime Video Security connect with access control?

Yes. Prime Video Security integrates natively with Primion solutions. Video detection, licence plate recognition, and facial recognition results feed into the same workflow as access events, so a security team can see whether activity captured on camera was authorised rather than cross-referencing two separate systems manually.

How is Prime Video Security deployed, and does it require new hardware?

Deployment is available in the cloud, at the edge, or on-premises, and works across all ONVIF-compliant cameras regardless of manufacturer, so extending an existing estate does not require capital expenditure on new camera hardware. Where a site needs dedicated perimeter sensing or LPR-specific hardware, Primion helps select and integrate the right elements for that site as part of the deployment.

How long does a Prime Video Security implementation take?

Implementation timelines depend on the number of cameras and sites, the analytics and detection types selected, and whether dedicated perimeter or LPR hardware is part of the deployment. Automated camera discovery and scene configuration reduces setup time considerably compared with manual configuration. Contact our team for a scoping conversation tailored to your site.
