How NORMA Connected Access, Time, Video and Alarms for 500 Employees Under One Platform

NORMA needed a new administration and logistics hub in Sarrebourg, built and secured in under 14 months, to replace its founding site in Strasbourg. Access control, time recording, video surveillance and alarm and intercom systems all had to come from a single provider and work together from day one. Built on Primion’s prime platform, the new site now runs 139 doors, 88 cabinet locks, 35 cameras, 80 alarm points and 13 intercom stations for 500 employees, all managed centrally. It also gave NORMA’s French warehouse team the same time-recording standard used across the rest of the business.

A 26,000 m² Hub Supplying 200 Branches

NORMA is a well-known German discounter. Its new headquarters in Sarrebourg spans more than 4,000 square metres of office space and 22,000 square metres of storage across four floors. From here, a new logistics platform supplies up to 200 branches across France.

No Legacy System, Just 14 Months to Launch

Opening a new site from scratch meant NORMA could design its security and workforce systems exactly as it wanted. It also meant no room for delay: every system had to be ready the day the doors opened.

NORMA wanted access control, time recording, video surveillance and alarm and intercom systems from a single provider. That was a bigger ask than it sounds. Time recording has little history in France, yet NORMA wanted to run it to the same global standard used across the rest of the business.

One Partner, Not Five Suppliers

NORMA needed to open its new Sarrebourg hub in under 14 months. To do that, it needed one partner covering access control, time recording, video surveillance and alarm and intercom systems, so every system could go live on schedule.

Integration, Speed and Proximity Won the Deal

Four things won NORMA’s confidence:

  • Integration with existing equipment. Primion’s systems connect with the equipment NORMA already relies on, rather than asking NORMA to replace it.
  • Fast answers during pre-sales. Questions were answered quickly, when the schedule left no room to wait.
  • One design across the whole site. A single, tailored approach instead of separate specifications per system.
  • A partner close by. Local proximity meant support NORMA could count on.

Live Before the Doors Opened

NORMA built its access, time, video and alarm systems into the same 14-month construction schedule as the building itself. Every system was ready by the time Sarrebourg opened, supporting 500 employees from day one.

What’s Running Today

For the security and facilities team: 500 employees and their access rights across 139 doors are managed centrally in prime WebAccess. Offline readers cover offices and meeting rooms, so rights can be adjusted daily as teams change. 88 electronic cabinet locks secure the changing rooms.

For workforce management: Warehouse employees record their hours on two ADT 1100 terminals, managed in prime Time. NORMA now runs time recording in France to the same standard used across the rest of the business.

For the business: A digital recorder captures footage 24 hours a day, held for 30 days. 35 cameras give a 360-degree view over the loading ramps and a 180-degree view over site traffic. A central unit monitors 80 alarm points across the offices and warehouses, reporting faults in cold storage, fire, heating and air systems straight to remote monitoring. Visitors without a badge use one of 13 IP intercom stations with video and call buttons.

One Platform Behind Every Door, Camera and Clock

NORMA runs its entire Sarrebourg site on connected Primion systems: 139 doors, 88 cabinet locks, 35 cameras, 80 alarm points and 13 intercom stations, all managed from a single platform.
